Denis is the first international hit of American group Blondie. It caused the international break through of the band and reached #1 in the Netherlands and Belgium and #2 in the UK. It was taken from the 1978 album ‘Plastic Letters’.
Following the success in the Netherlands the band was invited in the topPop studios in August 1978 to record a TV special with songs of the follow-up album ‘Parallel Lines’, Blondie’s third and most succesful album. It was released on September 23, 1978, and reached No. 1 in the United Kingdom in February 1979. The album proved to be the band’s commercial breakthrough in the United States where it reached No. 6 in April 1979. The album has sold over 20 million copies worldwide.

Blondie performed this TV Special for TopPop in the TopPop Studios in Hilversum, The Netherlands on 28 August 1978, almost a month before the release of the album!
At the special Debbie Harry and Blondie recorded no less than 7 songs from the album, of which many became big hits, such as: ‘Heart Of Glass’, ‘Hanging On The Telephone’ and ‘Sunday Girl’.
Also this compilation of the two previous recordings of ‘Denis’ was recorded at that date.
