PAUL CARBONARA

Who would play you in the movie of your life?
Gene Wilder

What’s your favorite snack food?
Twizzlers

What’s your pre-show ritual?
On tour the band kind of avoids each other. If we didn’t we’d end up killing one another. An hour or two before the show we hang out in separate rooms, but as the show approaches, an interesting thing happens. We all start to gradually assemble in one room, no matter how small it is. With about 20 minutes to show time, we’re all pals, laughing and talking to each other like human beings. After the show we all go back to being weird and alienated. It’s fun.

What essential item do you always bring with you on tour?
Laptop!

What was your first concert experience?
It wasn’t my first, but it was my most memorable. I saw the Clash at Bonds in Time Square. After the show I got a haircut and stopped wearing flared pants.

I’d like to say something cool like The Beatles at Shea Stadium but in reality it was the 1910 Fruitgum Company and Ohio Express at the local church hall.
