BRITISH RAIL were too quick off the mark for Blondie’s drummer Clem Burke when he visited Leicester on Friday.
The 24-year-old New Yorker was still collecting his belongings when the train moved out of the station and he finished up in Nottingham.
Consequently Clem was two hours late for a tour of Premier Drums, South Wigston.
“I’ve never been to a drum factory before, and I’ve found it very interesting,” he said. “I bought my fifth set of drums from Premier at the start of our tour, and I’m thrilled with them.”
Blondie have just completed a gruelling but very successful month-long tour, and although lead singer Debbie Harry has already departed for New York, Clem is remaining in England on holiday for a few weeks.

Clem discusses Blondie’s future in next week’s Sunday Extra.
