Blondie – In Camera 1978 Exhibition – 21st August 2025

I visited the Barbican Music Library in London on Thursday 21st August 2025 to view an exhibition celebrating Martyn Goddard’s most famous images of Blondie taken during their breakthrough year.

Legendary rock photographer Martyn Goddard unveils 50 hand-picked prints capturing Blondie at the height of their rise.

Commissioned to chronicle the band’s triumphant 1978 return, Goddard takes you from searing live shots to intimate studio moments across four unforgettable assignments. These images appear alongside rare posters, album covers, tour memorabilia, and the very cameras that froze these moments in time.

Some of the items in this exhibition have been loaned by the Alan Edwards Archive. Called the ‘godfather of modern music PR’, Alan Edwards is the founder of The Outside Organisation and has represented some of the most iconic artists including Blondie since 1978, David Bowie, and the Rolling Stones.
