EXCLUSIVE

FANG-TASTIC pop super-star Deborah Harry last night told how she looks best… as a BAT out of HELL!
Dishy Debbie has ditched her blonde bombshell image to become a VAMPIRE in an ATOMIC return to the top after years in hiding.

The gorgeous singer has told close friend’s she sick to DEATH of looking like a brainless BIMBO!
New Wave chart-topper Debbie BALLOONED in weight during a nightmare spell when she battled to nurse boyfriend Chris Stein over a horrific skin disease.
Although she’s now sexier than ever after a sensational spell of BODY-BUILDING, the lovely songbird would rather look like the evil BLOOD-SUCKER in her new video.
“I’ve never looked prettier on film than when I was a vampire,” said Debbie.
In the video for her latest single, I Want That Man, she plays a SLAVERING ZOMBIE who rises from the grave and goes out for a BITE to eat!

Different approach
Debbie admits she loved turning into an ugly, flesh-mad fiend.
“The sound of the music wakes me up from the crypt and then I want all these things.
“I want that man and I want the pink shoes and I want to be alive and turned on. So I dance around and BITE people.
Bosses at Debbie’s record label, Chrysalis, said she WANTS to look like a vampire.
“Rather than being portrayed as beautiful all the time, Debbie prefers to take a different approach,” said Chrysalis official Berni Kilmartin.
A pal of Debbie’s confided: “She doesn’t really want to be a vampire, but she thought it would look good.
“It’s all part of Debbie’s attempt to prove she’s not a DUMB BLONDE but a creative artist. And that’s why she wants to be known as Deborah and not Debbie.”
But scissor-happy record chiefs have left Debbie’s new-look in TATTERS – chopping chunks of her as a vampire OUT of the video to make it shorter.

Shock scenes banned
British pop fans won’t be able to see the SHOCK scenes of her crawling from a coffin to CHOMP on innocent necks to promote the song, currently No. 14 in the Top 20.
The ex-Blondie singer – still rocking at 44 – is flying high with a new album and a new fuller figure, thanks to hours of punishing IRON PUMPING sessions.
“I’ve been weightlifting for 18 months now and it can be great fun,” she said.
“You don’t think about the fact you feel you’re dying. It’s laughable – you’re reduced to this quivering mess and at the end you feel FABULOUS,” said Debbie.
Since she’s been knocking herself into shape, Debbie reckons muscle-bound bodybuilders are Number One.
Before she began her fabulous fitness phase, Debbie piled on the pounds as lover Chris slipped close to death.
Musician Chris went down with a terrifying virus called pemphigus, a genetic disease which causes massive blisters.

Thought he had AIDS
Back in the Sixties, the illness was a KILLER, and he was in hospital for six months.
“I was STUNNED. I thought Chris would die. But I didn’t allow myself to think about what I would do if he did. I just carried on,” said Debbie.
“Lots of people thought he had AIDS – it’s the obvious thing now if you seem to be wasting away.”
These days, Debbie and Chris aren’t together, but he’s well again and worked on her new album Def, Dumb and Blonde.

Hitmaker…
STUNNING Debbie sold a staggering £25 MILLION records worldwide in four years at the peak of her fame with Blondie.
Their first hit, Denis, reached Number TWO in February 1978 and they then had TWELVE Top 20 hits in a row, including FIVE Number Ones.
Heart of Glass, Sunday Girl, Atomic, Call Me and The Tide Is High all hit the top. Blondie never had another big hit after 1982, although Debbie Harry reached Number Eight in the charts with her solo single French Kissin’ In The USA in November 1986.
She said of her new album: “I wanted to move on, but with this album, I found Debbie Harry’s a part of me. And it feels good. Blondie was naive, Debbie Harry has grown up.”
