Blondie Icon Debbie Harry, 80, Rocks Gray Hair as She Preps To Play Pamela Anderson’s Mom

Blondie legend Debbie Harry may have risen to stardom as an iconic blonde, but she looks better than ever with gray hair these days.

Harry, 80, became a music staple in the late ’70s and ’80s thanks to her role as lead singer of the band Blondie. With hits like “The Tide is High” and “Rapture,” the beauty became one of the most desired musicians of her day. However, she hasn’t exactly slowed down in the decades that followed, and she still hits the stage to perform regularly. With an exciting new role in the works, playing Pamela Anderson‘s mom in an upcoming film (more on that below!), the star is simply thriving as she steps into her eighties. Sporting gray hair instead of her trademark blonde, Harry looked as chic as ever alongside Celine Rattray and Constance Wu at the Happy Hours after-party at the Tribeca Festival at the Soho Grand Hotel in New York City. Bright and colorful, the music queen made it clear that she’s still moving to the beat of her own drummer. Just as we hoped!

What’s Next for Debbie Harry?

While she’s best known as a music icon, Harry has done her fair share of acting, with roles in David Cronenberg’s Videodrome and John Waters’ Hairspray. However, her upcoming role sounds like quite a doozie. Last month, Deadline reported that Harry will play Pamela Anderson‘s mother in a comedy called Maitreya that’s directed by Portlandia creator Jonathan Krisel.

“Maitreya (Anderson), a rising star in the New Age Healing community who is about to head off to a conference in India when she receives a call from her estranged sister, Monica: their father is dying. Rather than stay home with him, Maitreya decides to bring her entire family – including her mother Barbara (Harry) – to the conference and put her New Age healing theories to the test (all while surreptitiously gathering material for her next book),” the description reads.
